I love that there's a place called Transylvania in Louisiana. This was so so perfect for the season. Unfortunately, it's getting warm again out here in Southern California :/ but that doesn't stop people from decorating. Sometimes I think our lack of seasons makes everyone want to decorate even more just so we can feel some semblance of seasonal change.

Also really love that quote about looking for ghosts and the impulse to visit haunted places. It really got me thinking.

Thanks for sharing this and making it feel a bit more like spooky season for me even though it's going to get up to 90 degrees here.🙃

It’s usually pretty warm here this time of year, too, but we had a huge temperature plunge. It was 90ish here just a few weeks ago ... and people here start decorating for Halloween more than a month out. :)

I love that! People decorate here but they usually seem to be more excited for Christmas than Halloween :/. But Halloween is mine and my mom’s favorite holiday. We always go crazy with the decorations inside and outside the house haha

The more I read your posts about Louisiana and New Orleans, the more I want to visit. It’s definitely moving higher up on my travel list!

People get pretty excited for Christmas here, too, but Halloween is definitely THE New Orleans holiday (after Mardi Gras, of course). It's a pretty amazing city. If you guys visit, let us know! We aren't experts yet, but we do know some good spots to hit. Halloween is my favorite holiday, by far, so I was really happy to see that pretty much the whole city dresses up for Halloween and it's like one big party out on the streets. Maybe you guys should come for Halloween next year! : )

Wow! That sounds amazing! I would actually love to see that. I’ll definitely let you know if I end up visiting! A Halloween trip to New Orleans would be so so cool. Maybe I’ll plan an autumnal trip up the east coast and start with New Orleans for Halloween :). I’ve been dying to visit small towns on the east coast/south in the fall. I might just have to make that my trip for next year

Though I suppose hot dogs are lamentedly in their past, I can imagine some are Star Trek fans. Now I’m picturing a gang of vampires watching a Golden Girls marathon. Oh, how our minds work!

Is it a correct assumption that Anne Rice gets a lot of the credit/blame for all the vampire stuff in Nola?

Oddly ... I have never heard her name mentioned here?! I think people kind of wearied of her, maybe. I laughed out loud thinking of vampires watching Golden Girls. "Ladies, if only you'd let us bite you back in the day, you'd be eterally 25 and immortal .... but then you wouldn't be the golden girls. Dammit. Nevermind!"
