The fact that Black people often aren’t able to do the genealogy projects that white folx take for granted is a fairly recent “oh, ok, dang” for me. It wasn’t at all obvious and it should be. Thanks for writing.
Aw, thank you so much! And yes, The Grio is terrific. I came to this realization later rather than sooner, too, and felt exactly the same way. But I guess the thing is to stay centered, take things day by day and do the best you can as a human being. We are all learning.
