Only about half the homes here in Seattle have air conditioning. And we're also a city filled with aluminum-free deodorant that doesn't really work. So our periodic heat waves tend to make liberal/leftist gatherings quite...human.
I remember reading about the lack of A/C in the PNW a few years ago when you guys had that bad heat wave. I haven't been there during hot spells, but wow. I can imagine it gets pretty earthy. : ) I landed in Portland for a visit the day pot was legalized there (somewhere in the neighborhood of Sept 2015?) and wow, that was an earthy smelling day, too!
Stop-ette was an early sponsor of What’s My Line. A few years back, I watched every extant episode of the greatest panel show in TV history (all but a few episodes in a 15 year run). Thanks for reminding me of a fave obsession.
Somehow I’ve only watched excerpts from What’s My Line - it seems like it pops up in a lot of documentaries? That’s too funny. Stopette kept America dry, and super informed about vocational trivia. :)
The only thing I knew about Odorono I learned from the Who!
It’s been a very sweaty summer in STL so far. I survive by using overtly men’s various roll-ons, and a mineral salt stick for other areas that get sweaty. The salt stick is surprisingly effective!
My mom always used Ban roll on. Probably since it’s inception since in 1965 she was just getting into the real sweats. What makes people choose their lifetime brand? Price? Scent? Effectiveness? I have been a Right Guard guy since junior high and have no idea why.
Ah! That's a good question. You are totally right, deodorant really is one of those lifer loyalty things. Maybe so we don't have to think about it too much? . I veered into the hippie deodorant territory in St Louis and SLC, but that is just not an option in New Orleans, if I want to be around other people. My Mom texted me and told me she used to use Mum, and that all dressess used to be sold with armpit shields. Yow!

Hahahahhaha. Yes, I remember that first week or two here in Seattle. It was like a Cheech and Chong movie.

Fascinating
Thanks! 🙏

Yeah, I didn’t realize they name checked it till I wrote this and did an image search. I’d seen that before and I think assumed it was a fake brand!
Also, good to know those salt sticks work - for some reason I’ve always been leery of them. STL seems like it’s getting some crazy weather all around!
